DNS stands for Domain Name System which is responsible for translating domains (like google.com) to routable IP addresses (like 72.14.192.0). The DNS services provided by your carrier or Wi-Fi network provider might not always be the fastest at translating domains to IP addresses. Or worse, they could be less than secure. Thankfully, it is possible to add custom DNS Addresses on Android when connected to a wireless network or mobile data.

To change the DNS of your device manually, you need to know what DNS addresses are available to use. The two most popular free DNS services are Google and Cloudflare. You can select either service, as they both function equally as well. Those addresses are:

Google DNS: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
Cloudflare DNS: 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1
