Welcome to my How to find your Apple Watch Video! In this video I’m going to talk about the different ways you can find your Apple Watch in case you’ve misplaced or lost it!
Most of us don’t usually loose our Apple Watches. If we do it’s between the cushions on the couch or under the bed. Usually somewhere around the house. As far as I know theres only 1 official way to find your Apple Watch, and we’ll go through that in a moment. But what I really wanted to share with you was a really cool trick to help you pinpoint your watch without having to go online.
There’s no option to ping your Apple Watch like you can with your iPhone. But I found a cool tip online that’s kind of like pinging your Apple Watch. Every time you adjust the haptic strength from the Watch App on your iPhone, and your Apple Watch is in bluetooth range, the Apple Watch emits a faint tone! Since I’ve found this little work around I’ve used it a couple of times and it’s really helpful when you know it’s in the house but can’t quite pinpoint it! To use this method open the Watch App on your iPhone and go to sound and haptics, then the third option down is the haptic strength slider. Just move it back an fourth between the full and half mark and your Apple Watch will emit a little thunk sound like this! It’s not super loud, but it’s local, doesn’t require an internet connection and is pretty simple!
The other way to find your Apple Watch is using the Find iPhone App. Specifically you can go to the Watch App on your iPhone, choose your Apple Watch, then press the little “i” button and then find my Apple Watch. This will take you directly into the find iPhone app and search for your Apple Watch. You can also use this method from icloud.com and the find iPhone app as well!
So Make sure you’ve actually setup Find My iPhone for your iPhone, as long as it’s setup on your iPhone then it’s automatically setup for your Apple Watch!
However, I’ve found that this option didn’t work on my Apple Watch immediately when I was making this video. My Apple Watch showed up on the map and was found, but it wouldn’t emit the sound. I had to do a hard reset and then it worked. I’m not quite sure why, but if my watch had been lost and I had to depend on that sound it wouldn’t have worked, so I’m glad to have learned about the haptic feedback menu method! Guess we need to start restarting our Apple Watch’s every so often to keep everything synchronized!
Apple does have an official support doc on their website about what to do if your watch is Lost or Stolen. So if you’d like more detail I’ll leave a link in the description. But they pretty much just talk about using the Find iPhone App.
