Galaxy S6 Edge Data Recovery from UFS Memory with Chip-Off

Here I show how to recover data from a dead, water-damaged Galaxy S6 Edge phone using a chip-off data recovery method. All the Samsung's Galaxy S6 Series uses a new UFS 2.0 FBGA95 memory chip, in place of the eMMC or eMCP chips used on earlier models. To read the memory chip, it must be reballed before using with a custom fixture and programmer made by DediProg The memory chip itself is usually layered on top of another chip on the logic board.

In this video I show how to identify and remove the UFS memory chip; clean the underfill; tin the contacts; and finally reball using a stencil - all in preparation for the DediProg fixture. If everything goes right, the chip will be recognized and the user data extracted using the DediProg software.

If you would rather have FlashFixers do the chip-off on your Galaxy S6/S6 Edge/Edge+/S6 Active/Alpha/Note 5 or other Android phone models, we offer a full data recovery service. More info at http://flashfixers.com.
