Once you unlock the bootloader of the Samsung Galaxy S21 you will no longer be able to download and install OTA updates through the traditional updater tool.

This feature breaks once the bootloader has been unlocked (in my experience) and it will require you to manually install those OTA updates yourself. This is usually fine though, as we need to do this in order to maintain root access anyway.

So to begin, you first need to manually download and extract the OTA update you want to install. I download this with a program called Frija right now, but some people use the revitalized SamFirm program and others may go the website route with SamMobile or Updato.

It doesn't matter where you get the firmware though, just as long as it's an official firmware downloaded from a trusted source. After it's been downloaded, go ahead and extract it so that we can patch the AP file with our Galaxy S21+.

After the firmware file has been patched, it'll then need to be moved back over to the PC so that we can load it into Odin.

So let's boot the Galaxy S21 Ultra into Download Mode and then connect it to the PC with a USB cable. Now load the firmware files of the OTA update into Odin as instructed (remember to use the HOME_CSC file in order to keep your personal data).

Wait for Odin to flash the files to your smartphone and then watch it reboot (mine rebooted twice before loading up Android). It should eventually take you to the Android lock screen so you can unlock the phone like normal and see all of your data is still intact.

You can follow along with me by using the root checker app to see if you have indeed kept root access during the entire process.
