This root method by flashing a custom recovery has the advantages of working on a wide range of android devices,not just on Samsung Galaxy S5 and is the fastest method to be able to prepare your phone for switching to a custom ROM. In this tutorial I used the TWRP recovery,but exactly same way can be flashed the CWM recovery and root the phone by installing supersu from recovery. This root tutorial works for a very wide range of android devices,basically all for which there is a custom recovery available. A few examples for which the root will work are :
-Samsung Galaxy Note 2,Note 3,Note 4 and Note Edge
-Samsung Galaxy S3,S4, S5 ,s6 and S6 Edge
