How essential it is to have 12GB RAM inside your smartphone in loading and re-opening apps?

We ran a speed test for two identical smartphones (same processor, same android version & UI, with the only difference is the RAM & Storage inside - one with 8GB RAM, 128GB storage and the other one with 12GB RAM, 1TB storage), by opening varieties type of applications and games in round 1 and then re-opening it in round 2 to see if the these smartphones really need the extra RAM to keep all these applications open in the background.

Test Environment:
1. Samsung Galaxy S10+ 8GB | 128GB
2. Samsung Galaxy S10+ 12GB | 1TB
3. Same 5GHz WiFi
4. Phones were restarted before the test began.
