How to fix “No battery is detected” & “No battery present” errors on laptop computers.

One of my customers complained that her laptop computer was not turning on when unplugged, but as soon as you plug it in, it starts up just fine. In addition there were error messages “No battery is detected” & “No battery present” in the system tray. To fix the problem with battery not being detected on a laptop computer complete the following steps:
- Turn off and unplug the laptop
- Loosen the screws and remove the back cover (skip to step 3 if your laptop has removable battery)
- Visually examine the condition of the battery for any signs of leaks, damage or deformation, and replace the battery if necessary
- Inspect and if necessary replace the battery cable
- If battery & the cable appear to be ok, unplug the battery cable for at least 10 seconds
- Reconnect the battery cable
- Reassemble and turn on the laptop
- Verify that the battery is being detected now - battery status indicator should be saying "plugged in & charging" and battery charge percentage should start increasing.
