I figured it was about time to replace my old HP laptop (still running Windows 7) and this looked like a great system. The speaker system/sound is great...much better than Bose that Ive had previously.
The biggest disappointment is that for the cost, this should have some sort of usable software on it. Ive purchased several laptops for others over the past few years and for this cost, all have had SSD drives and at least Microsoft Office on it.

I figured it was about time to replace my old HP laptop (still running Windows 7) and this looked like a great system. The speaker system/sound is great...much better than Bose that Ive had previously.

The Office on this laptop was an online subscription link. It wasnt the "real" Office that you use on your computer (which is what I use). I had to purchase Office ($$$) and then install it.
Due to the fact it has a spin drive instead of an SSD, it took 45 minutes to download the Office software onto my laptop. This could have been cut in half or more with an SSD.
My computer geek guy said I could upgrade and add an SSD for under $100 plus installation. The use of the machine is easy.
The screen is nice and has a touch screen (not that I use it but its there) and turning off the camera and microphone were easy to do as well. The weight of the laptop isnt burdonsome either.
I love that it has a 10 key....which I use a lot. All in all, its a great machine....much more than I need in a lot of aspects. I just wish that it had an SSD so Ill probably upgrade and add it.
I have not had any issues with it "falling asleep" as another reviewer. I went in and set up the screen saver and sleep modes with timers and it works.
It works okay, but Im not in love with it. Tinny sound from the Bang & Olufsen audio system. The screen saver sometimes kicks in, but it quits working after some period of time.
Nice screen, but things arent as rich looking as on my windows 7 computer, which I love and will continue to keep using until it gets corrupted by a virus or is so far out of date as to be no longer useful.
This is a marvelous computer to work with. It is fast, with a sharp image, and works wonders for me. Video response is excellent, and the functionality I use it for most, it is near perfect.
I have no complaints, so far, and I am delighted with it. Battery life is longer than my working day, even when there are several programs open, including a browser running video, such as You-Tube tutorials.
I would recommend this tool to anyone. As far as gaming, I am not a gamer, so I can not comment on its functionality for games. For writing and keeping up with my sphere of influence, it meets all my needs exceedingly well.
This 17 inch Envy laptop is great for school. The Full HD Touchscreen on this laptop looks amazing and with a high screen resolution, theres enough onscreen room to work with.
This Envy laptop is speedy and logging in with Windows Hello is awesome, just look at the camera and youre in. The backlit keyboard is cool too. Overall, a great built laptop that will handle tasks well.
I’m a desktop computer guy. I’ve had a few laptops in the past and have been pretty underwhelmed by them. In general, in my experience, dollar for dollar desktops outperform laptops.
I have to say that this HP Envy is a very welcome exception to that rule. The CPU is an Intel Core i7, as good as anything in a desktop. With 12 gigs of RAM it blazes through apps, and has a terabyte of storage.
On top of all that, it has an optical drive, a major plus and something that’s becoming ever more rare in laptops. That means that in addition to being able to write to an external medium (for archiving or whatever) you can watch videos, as well as game.
